Two Detentions in the Aftermath of London Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack
Two more people have been arrested in connection with a theft at London's Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals were injured by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to police.
A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth for suspected theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. They both remain in custody, the force said.
The arrests come after an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the attack, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their suitcases upon exiting a car park lift.
A three-year-old girl was one of the injured in the event. Five people were taken to the hospital for treatment and have since been discharged.
Police detained a man in his thirties on suspicion of robbery and assault close to the location. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.
Authorities were alerted at about 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding several individuals injured by a noxious substance believed to be an irritant spray.
The attack - an event that police said was isolated and not being treated as terrorism - caused train delays and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the T3 car park for a short time.
