The Russian, a former world number one, has experienced a difficult season, managing just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in particular - resulted in him falling of the top ten and eventually parting ways with former trainer his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's maiden trophy following the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt after spring of the previous year.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has won 21 titles at 21 various tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters together, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six finals, comprising in that event earlier this year.

His retrieving approach and regular reactions on the playing surface had prompted some to question if his skill to perform at the elite level was over.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to advance forward and perform assertively, supported by an enhanced serve.

The champion fought back from a break down in the first set against the tricky opponent, securing four of the concluding five points to go ahead.

Both players traded breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden tour championship, gained dominance to create a final set.

He rescued four early break points in a competitive deciding set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned the title with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to control a shot after a lengthy match.
